Yes, that is one of their advantages. LBR offers mixed recycling, organics, garbage, and refundable bottle collection.  There is often a saving to have all your services with one carrier.  The second advantage is one phone number to call for changes and one invoice at the end of the month.

Little Big Recycling does a free site assessment of your space for bins or totes, and asked questions regarding the number of people and the types of recycling being collected.  Once we have a clear picture of volumes, we make a suggestion on the types and sizes of totes or bins to fill your needs. Frequency is often weekly, but can be done daily, twice a month, or whatever works.  We can also modify your contract as your needs grow, or as we fine tune services.

Little Big Recycling includes the costs of these receptacles in their quotes, and pays for them.  

You are entrusting that the recycling company you are contracted with is actually doing recycling to the best of their ability. This is not always the case, as collection depots charge different “tipping fees” for disposal of organics, disposal of mixed recycling, and for disposal of garbage. Some service providers dispose of their recyclables in the garbage as the “tipping rates” are less expensive. You can rest assured that Little Big Recycling takes all of their collections to the proper depot, and disposes of them in the best possible means for reuse/recycling.

While it is always possible to set up your own Recycling Program, it requires a number of things which often result in problems:

1. You have to purchasing bins, add as needed, and keep them clean
2. You have to be able to empty the bins
3. You need adequate transportation for the materials to the recycle source
4. You need dependable people in the building to take the recycling (1x , 2-3x a week) to the appropriate disposal sites : i.e. bottles to a bottle depot, glass and recyclables to recycling, misplaced items to the dump, and cardboard to a proper source
5. Is your building/strata insured to cover the resident-volunteers who are doing your recycling
6. Revenues from containers that pay deposits are never what is expected, because people such as residents from the building or street bottle collectors often help themselves to this bin as a source of income. We know this as we see it all the time in many of our buildings, even those with limited access

While you can do it yourselves, we are specialists at what we do and we do it daily, and professionally. Trust us, from experience, it is not worth the anticipated return for the investment.

First of all, Little Big Recycling can do both single stream bins and co-mingled dumpsters, but the latter are less advantageous for the environment, and you may have to come back to single stream in the near future with organics coming on board in any case. Single stream or co-mingled [one large bin and a free-for-all] programs are convenient for residents in that they do not need to sort their recyclables.  Little Big Recycling™ offers both single stream and sorted programs based on what best serves your needs.  We recommend the sorted, and the attached sheet of Pros and Cons of each will point out our reasons why we prefer sorted.  Sorted programs offer the benefit of educating residents on what can and cannot be recycled which minimizes contamination.  Either way, our technicians ensure that non-recyclables are removed from our bins at no extra cost to you. 

 Our bins have two large wheels and attached lids so they can be easily retrieved by our technicians from anywhere on the property.  There are no associated fees with retrieving them from inside the building.

Yes.  LBR offers one-off pickups for large items with pre-arrangements. We offer roll-off services for customers who are accumulating junk or doing renovations. Call us for a quotation.  LBR also has contract services at its disposal if you have needs that are not normally a part of our services. 

LBR, like all providers has contracts. It is important for us, as we have to commit to manpower and equipment over the long term.  Contracts also hold price increases over the term in many cases.  That being said, LBR has met with many disgruntled customers from previous service providers.  In some of those cases, we are providing services with a simple letter of understanding (services for a fee), and with no contract.  If this makes the difference for you to select LBR, talk to us.
