Covid-19 Information

Dear Valued Customer,

Waste removal is an essential service, especially in these uncertain times. As such we are doing everything in our power to ensure our customers continue to receive the same level of service they have come to expect with LBR.

We have been closely monitoring the status of the COVID-19 outbreak and governmental recommendations. Protective measures for our technicians have been increased to ensure their safety and the company’s continued ability to fulfil the needs of our customers.

We have introduced some new protocols to protect our employees. As of today, any materials outside of the cart(s) and/ or bin(s) will not be picked up.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

Little Big Recycling (LBR) employees must complete a self-examination each morning
before coming to work. If an employee has any symptoms related to COVID-19, the
employee must report this to the manager, self-isolate and get a COVID-19 test
specified by Alberta Health Services.
If an employee’s health situation changes while at work, they must alert management
and go home to begin self-isolation and get a COVID-19 test.

Masks or face coverings will be provided to each  mployee. It is the responsibility of
the employee to maintain the cleanliness of their masks or face coverings by washing/ sanitizing daily. Masks, gloves, safety glasses, high visibility vests, antiseptic wipes,
hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray will be provided to employees.

Any time that employees cannot maintain a 6’ / 2 meter distance, they must wear a mask or face covering. A mask or face covering is to be worn by all employees when in company vehicles with more than one person.

Before getting in a company vehicle, the driver is responsible for sanitizing all touch points on or in the vehicle (e.g.: keys, door handles, steering wheel, gear shifter, ignition, seat adjuster, rear-view mirror, side view mirror controls and window controls and radio controls at a minimum.

Employees are encouraged to remember to:

  • Sneeze or cough into their elbow or arm;
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. In addition,
    if hand sanitizer is available, employees should utilize this as often as possible;
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth;
  • Maintain a safe physical distance from other people;
  • Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible;
  • Stay home if you have any symptoms;
  • If you have a cough, fever or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention.

Wearing a mask can help prevent the spread of the virus to others. Masks alone do not protect against COVID-19, and should be combined with physical distancing and hand hygiene.

  • Tiredness
  • Sore Throat
  • Aches and pains

If you feel sick you should rest, drink plenty of fluid and eat nutritious food. Stay in a separate room from other family members and use a dedicated bathroom, if possible.

Everyone should keep a healthy lifestyle. Maintain a healthy diet, sleep, stay active and make social contact with friends and family through the phone or internet. Keep regular routines and schedules as much as possible.

Its normal to feel sad, stressed or confused during a time of crisis. Talking to people such as family or friends can help. If you feel like you need more assistance, contact a health worker or counsellor.

If you have mild symptoms self-isolate and contact your medical provider or a COVID19 information line for advice.

Seek medical attention if you have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or any other symptoms.

Some people with COVID-19 sometimes do not recognize early symptoms. It is possible to transmit COVID-19 even if you do not ever develop symptoms.

A person needs to quarantine (self-isolate) for 14 days;

  • After returning from travel outside Canada;
  • If they were in close contact with someone who has or is suspected of
    having COVID-19;
  • If they have been told by a family member, friend or public health that you
    may have been exposed.

During quarantine (self-isolation) means that for 14 days you need to;

  • Get a COVID-19 test;
  • Stay at home and monitor yourself for symptoms;
  • Avoid contact with other people to prevent transmission of the virus;
  • Physically distance.

If during the 14 day quarantine you develop symptoms, you must;

  • Stay isolated from others;
  • Immediately see or call a healthcare professional;
  • And your self-isolation may be extended beyond the 14 days.

This is to reduce the risk of exposure for our technicians during this outbreak. If you need to adjust your pickup frequency during this time, please contact Deneyn White, our Waste and Recycling Consultant at:
